{"id":84631,"date":"2013-05-21T12:27:46","date_gmt":"2013-05-21T12:27:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2013\/05\/npp-demands-reconstitution-of-ec\/"},"modified":"2013-05-21T12:27:46","modified_gmt":"2013-05-21T12:27:46","slug":"npp-demands-reconstitution-of-ec","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2013\/05\/21\/npp-demands-reconstitution-of-ec\/","title":{"rendered":"NPP Demands Reconstitution Of EC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div id=\"attachment_82937\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft c1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-82937\" alt=\"Hon Isaac Osei, MP for Subin, flanked by other executives addressing party\" src=\"http:\/\/img.ghanamma.com\/uploads\/2013\/05\/67fbSammy.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"191\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Hon Isaac Osei, MP for Subin, flanked by other executives addressing party<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) have called for the re-organization of the current electoral body, which they say has been compromised due to the 2012 elections.<\/p>\n<p>A Deputy Communication Director of the party, Samuel Awuku, who made the call, the new Electoral Commission (EC) would represent all sectors of society, as the Electoral Commission (EC) under Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan looked like a one-man-show bedroom organization.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the EC ought to have representation from academia, the National House of Chiefs, parliament and other relevant state institutions to make it vibrant, transparent and innovative.<\/p>\n<p>Addressing the party\u2019s supporters in Kumasi at a forum on the theme, \u201cSearching for Electoral Reform in Ghana \u2013 role of the NPP,\u201d Mr. Awuku said public education must be made to place Ghanaians at the centre to agitate for electoral reforms to guarantee transparent elections in future.<\/p>\n<p>The forum was organized by the Kumasi Polytechnic branch of Tertiary Education Students Confederation (TESCON) of the NPP as part of its week celebration.<\/p>\n<p>The NPP Deputy Communication Director noted that Ghanaians have reposed hope and confidence in the nine Supreme Court justices to restore the will of the people as they struggle to put body and soul together.<\/p>\n<p>In his view, his party has enough evidence to, as he put it, \u201cbreak down the axils of the evil empire and turn around the electoral fraud perpetuated on Ghanaians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Samuel Awuku called on the NPP to be vigilant in future elections.<\/p>\n<p>The Member of Parliament (MP) for Atwima Mponua, Isaac Asiamah said it was the prayer of the NPP that the Supreme Court would declare the party\u2019s flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as winner of the 2012 presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, this would bring Ghana\u2019s economy back on track since managers of the state had failed woefully with corruption permeating every sector of economy.<\/p>\n<p>The MP said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government within a period of three months spent GH\u00a28.7 billion to buy cars for nondescript people.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery sector of the economy has deteriorated.
