Nganjiwa, in his judgment, had\u00a0 ordered the police\u00a0 to vacate the\u00a0 council secretariat\u00a0 .<\/p>\n<p>In a statement, yesterday, the labour unions directed\u00a0 all workers of Obio\/Akpor\u00a0 to return to work immediately.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn line with the rule of law and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Inspector General of Police and the Commissioner of Police Rivers State command should immediately direct their men to vacate the premises of Obio\/Akpor Council Secretariat\u201d, the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe appeal to the local government council to pay the workers for the period of the lock out by the Nigeria Police Rivers State Command. We took the position because the workers were ready to work, but were prevented to go to their places of work by the police.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe advise the Nigeria Police Force Rivers State Command to focus on their constitutional duties of protecting lives and property, instead of tacitly taking sides on matters that are purely political.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Comments are moderated.
