The Progressive People\u2019s Party (PPP) at the weekend began a five-week national tour of all the ten regions in the country.<\/p>\n

The tour, which is led by the party\u2019s National Chairman, Nii Allottey Brew-Hammond, started on Saturday, May 11, in the Greater Accra Region.<\/p>\n

The team which included the party\u2019s Director of Operations, Nana Ofori Owusu, moved to the Central Region on Sunday.<\/p>\n

It is expected to end in the Brong Ahafo Region. This was stated in a release issued at the weekend and signed by the party\u2019s National Secretary, Kofi Asamoah-Siaw.<\/p>\n

This is one of a number of initiatives approved by the national committee of the party to strengthen the base of the party and make it a stronger competitor in future elections.<\/p>\n

The party has put a committee together to come up with rules to govern the selection of candidates for future elections with a view to putting many of its members in Parliament.<\/p>\n

The purpose of the tour, according to the release, is to enable the party\u2019s national leadership interact with its regional and constituency executives \u201cas part of the party\u2019s reorganisation effort.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe party will also seize the opportunity to educate members of the party on a number of national issues currently confronting the nation.<\/p>\n

[In our short period of existence, the PPP has established itself as an alternative political party to the NDC and NPP. We have been disciplined and consistent in being the mouth piece for those disenchanted with the same old politics],” the statement affirmed.<\/p>\n

According to the PPP, it remains committed to its reform agenda \u201cwhich includes strengthening state institutions such as the Electoral Commission, making Parliament fully independent of the Executive, and advocating for the direct and popular election of all Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives.\u201d<\/p>\n

In this regard, the PPP appealed to all progressive minded individuals to support its reform agenda.<\/p>\n
