OSOGBO \u2014 GOVERNOR Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, has advocated a conscious youth employment policy to be jointly powered by the Federal Government and the 36 states of the federation as a major strategy towards solving the rising insurgency in the country.<\/p>\n

Governor Aregbesola who condemned Saturday attack on the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, described the assassination attempt as unconscionable and sacrilegious.<\/p>\n

Lamenting what he described as a total paralysis of the social and economic activities caused by the activities of the insurgents, the Governor said a palpable atmosphere of fear pervaded the nation now as fall-out of the unending spate of violence unleashed on the people.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cWe condemn this unconscionable attack on an octogenarian who is also a traditional ruler in very strong terms. It is un-African and against all known religious doctrines.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt should call for the concern of all patriots. While condoling with the Emir, the entire people of Kano and Nigerians in general on the cruel assassination of the personal guards of the Emir, his driver, Interim Chairman of Kumbotso Local Government Area, Alhaji Salisu Abdullahi Kura, and other victims of the sad and unfortunate attack, it is important for all patriots to reflect on the atmosphere of insecurity that pervades the nation now.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must be frank with ourselves to admit that containment alone of whatever nature and degree cannot solve these challenges.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is in this light that we want to tell all governments in Nigeria that an emergency should be declared in youth employment; that the Federal Government should minimally promote a policy of marching each state one to one on youth employment with a maximum of 10,000 in what we call counterpart youth employment initiative.<\/p>\n

This is will be between the Federal Government and each of the 36 states of the federation. What this means is that while the state employs 10.000 youths, the Federal Government should support that state with another 10,000 making 20,000 for each state.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile these youth will be deployed to community, social and public works.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis initiative coupled with military actions will take youth insurgency out of this country in the next five years.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
