{"id":69770,"date":"2013-04-25T13:29:17","date_gmt":"2013-04-25T13:29:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2013\/04\/muslims-pray-for-nana-addo\/"},"modified":"2013-04-25T13:29:17","modified_gmt":"2013-04-25T13:29:17","slug":"muslims-pray-for-nana-addo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2013\/04\/25\/muslims-pray-for-nana-addo\/","title":{"rendered":"Muslims Pray For Nana Addo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><div id=\"attachment_80704\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft c1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-80704\" alt=\"The Muslims praying for Nana Akufo Addo\" src=\"http:\/\/img.ghanamma.com\/uploads\/2013\/04\/c144muslims_praying.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"263\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">The Muslims praying for Nana Akufo Addo<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"c2\">Many Muslims in Koforidua, the Eastern regional capital, on Tuesday prayed fervently for God\u2019s favour and protection for Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, 2012 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and other party members who are challenging the results of the presidential election at the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c3\">The programme was initially disrupted by the police who said the organizers did not secure permit to hold the event.<\/p>\n<p>The Muslims also called for the maintenance of peace after the verdict of the Supreme Court.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly, the peaceful prayer session was held amid tight security, as several policemen were seen hovering at the venue.<\/p>\n<p>The well-attended programme, which was organized by Free Education Now Prayer Group (FENPG), led by Andy Owusu, was held at forecourt of the Koforidua Palace.<\/p>\n<p>The objective of the grouping, made up of mainly Junior High School (JHS) graduates, is to pray to God to help Nana Akufo Addo to win the court case.<\/p>\n<p>The students, whose parents and guardians face financial difficulties, want Nana Akufo Addo to emerge victorious in order to implement his famous Free SHS Education policy.<\/p>\n<p>Leader of the Muslims, Alhaji Tanko Mohammed, during the prayer session, said Ghanaians must play a leading role to make the country safe.<\/p>\n<p>He prayed to Allah to help Nana Akufo Addo to occupy the highest office of the land to implement effective programmes to improve the lives of the people.<\/p>\n<p>Alhaji Tanko, a staunch NPP member, said members of the group had been praying fervently to support Nana Akufo Addo, urging other Muslims to promote peace and unity.<\/p>\n<p>The FENPG recently organized similar prayer sessions for Nana Akufo-Addo in Kumasi and Techiman.<\/p>\n<p>Andy Owusu, National Coordinator, FENPG, expressed worry about the massive police presence at the venue, alleging that the police wanted to disrupt the event.<\/p>\n<p>The police initially stopped the group from praying on the streets with the excuse that they don\u2019t have enough men to protect us so I was surprised about the massive police presence at the park where the prayers were said later in the day.<\/p>\n<p>Owusu alleged that the Electoral Commission (EC) rigged the elections in favour of President Mahama.<\/p>\n<p>He said the group would continue to pray until justice prevails.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>FROM I.F.
