BENIN\u2014THE 14 newly elected local government area chairmen on the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN, in weekend\u2019s elections in Edo State, were sworn-in, yesterday, by Governor Adams Oshiomhole.<\/p>\n

He also ordered Edo State Independent Electoral Commission, EDSIEC, to apologise to the people of the state for the lapses recorded in the council elections.<\/p>\n

Speaking during the event, the governor said: \u201cI want to reassure, not only Edo people but all Nigerians, that I am committed and I remain committed and I shall ever be committed to the principle of one man one vote.\u00a0 It is not a choice.\u00a0 In a democracy, there is no alternative to that.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the last election, there were issues that deeply troubled me.\u00a0 The fact that election materials did not arrive on time from Lagos, as a responsible government, we did our best to ensure that those materials were properly secured.\u00a0 We did our best to ensure that the materials were delivered to EDSIEC.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
