Tony Lithur, Counsel for President Mahama<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Spokesperson for New Patriotic Party (NPP)\u2019s legal team, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah has said counsel for President John Mahama, Tony Lithur has no more questions to ask and has resorted to delaying the process in court.<\/p>\n

Mr. Asamoah said this was the reason why Tony Lithur, Counsel for President John Dramani Mahama in the election petition has been asking the same questions over and over again. He was speaking to Metro TV on Monday after the court took a break for lunch.<\/p>\n

Mr Lithur, in his cross-examination of Dr. Mahamadou Bawumia, the 2012 vice presidential candidate for the NPP, has been questioning Dr. Bawumia with a constant question, \u201cl put it to you that you have used the duplicated pink sheets for the purpose of deceiving the court,\u201d to which Dr Bawumia responded: \u201cit is not true\u201d.<\/p>\n

There are over 11,000 disputed pink sheets at stake in the petition challenging the results of the December 2012 presidential elections.<\/p>\n

As at last Thursday’s hearing, only 38 pink sheets had been used in the cross examination of Dr. Bawumia.<\/p>\n

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) legal team has been seeking to establish a case of double-counting of pink sheets by the NPP.<\/p>\n

On Friday, the eminent panel of judges in a letter copied to all parties in the election petition case directed the counsel for the first respondent, Tony Lithur to list all duplicated pink sheets and send an electronic version of the lists to the court and to the petitioners.<\/p>\n

Mr. Lithur said this morning that he had complied with the Supreme Court directive with “a heavy heart”.<\/p>\n

But the NPP lawyer says the President’s lawyer had swerved the court directive and \u201cadopted other means\u201d although they had \u201cnot taken an excuse from the court\u201d.<\/p>\n

He revealed that the strategy of the NDC today in court was to delay the process by trying to \u201cpush the matter through the same way they did before\u201d. He contrasted that the only difference was that they are trying to push through larger quantities.<\/p>\n

He admonished the counsel for President Mahama to comply with the directive of the court\u201d in what he believed was in \u201ctheir interest\u201d. <\/p>\n
