The controversial Central Regional Chairman of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) George William Dickson has officially resigned his position but says he continues to be a member of the Union.<\/p>\n
Mr. Dickson\u2019s resignation comes as an anti-climax because in recent times he has been a pivot of the Mark Okraku Mantey-led attacks on MUSIGA President Bice \u2018Obour\u2019 Kuffour and his team of Executive members.<\/p>\n
Dickon however explained that the decision to resign is the best for him and his family.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow issues are unfolding, the best option for me and my family is that I resign.<\/p>\n
I have been a member of MUSIGA for 32 years and we pay GHC104 (GHC50 for registration and GHC54 for welfare) every year.<\/p>\n
I have paid that of last year and I\u2019m about to pay for this year.<\/p>\n
If I pay all these monies and I don\u2019t see any profit it brings or I ask questions and it will bring problems and other things then I think it is best that I resign,\u201d Dickson said.<\/p>\n
Dickson and Okraku Mantey have publicly called on Obour to render accounts of MUSIGA\u2019s recently held Ghana Music Week (GMW) and although the Union on Thursday released a statement to explain the expenditure and sponsorship package of the GMW, the critics continue to wage their war unabated and raise other issues.
\u201cThere is a statement that is out and even the National Executive Council (NEC) members do not know anything about it.<\/p>\n
I received a message that Wednesday we should come to Accra and have a Press Conference about the statement.<\/p>\n
Now that the report is already out, if you go there and you don\u2019t understand anything, what do you say?\u201d<\/p>\n
Dickson questioned in a phone interview on Peace FM\u2019s Entertainment Review Show.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, sources close to George William Dickson say he resigned as the Central Regional Chairman of MUSIGA mainly because he wants to sue the Obour led administration on the finances of the GMW.<\/p>\n
