{"id":58993,"date":"2013-04-05T10:51:51","date_gmt":"2013-04-05T10:51:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2013\/04\/dont-grant-boko-haram-amnesty-prophet-onaolapo\/"},"modified":"2013-04-05T10:51:51","modified_gmt":"2013-04-05T10:51:51","slug":"dont-grant-boko-haram-amnesty-prophet-onaolapo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2013\/04\/05\/dont-grant-boko-haram-amnesty-prophet-onaolapo\/","title":{"rendered":"Don\u2019t grant Boko Haram amnesty \u2013 Prophet Onaolapo"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"65.866857142857\">\n<p>BY ETOP EKANEM<\/p>\n<p>LAGOS \u2014 THE General Overseer of Christ the King Rescue Global Ministry, Prophet Gabriel Onaolapo, has kicked against calls for amnesty for members of Boko Haram sect, saying that all other windows of opportunity for engagement should be explored in the search for peace.<\/p>\n<p>The cleric who spoke during the 12th Freedom Day Festival\u00a0 with the theme: \u2018Freedom that guarantees great revival\u2019 at the church\u2019s headquarters, Yewande Junction, Giwa Oke-Aro, Lagos, said: \u201cWith the continued violence unleashed on the nation, one thing is certain: the ghost of Boko Haram is real and haunts Nigeria with devastating effect.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAgainst the background of these mindless killings, all windows of opportunity for engagement should be explored in the search for peace. Amnesty, however, is not such window.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Onaolapo noted that in Nigeria \u201cthere is virtually no economy. We are still not one of the societies with world class electricity supply. Even in the best of time, the country itself is totally unplanned, chaotic, lawless, agrarian and an unproductive economy. The quality of governance that determines peace, security and development has eluded us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He called on\u00a0 statesmen such as Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd), Alhaji Shehu Shagari, Chief Emeka Anyaoku General Ibrahim Babangida (rtd) and General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) to intervene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no reason these few cannot come together for Nigeria at this point when it is very clear that the state itself is distressed and authority has broken down.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Comments are moderated.
