The first ever edition of the Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards<\/strong> was successfully held at the Eko Hotel and Suites\u00a0on Saturday, March 9, 2013.<\/p>\n The top winners of the night were Nigerian actor O.C Ukeje<\/strong> and Ghana\u2019s\u00a0Jackie Appiah<\/strong> who walked away with the \u2018Best Actor\u2019 and \u2018Best Actress\u2019 award respectively.<\/p>\n The biggest surprise loses of the night were star actresses Genevieve Nnaji<\/strong> and Funke Akindele-Oloyede<\/strong>\u00a0losing out in their respective categories. Genevieve lost out to Jackie Appiah in the \u2018Best Actress\u2019 category and\u00a0Akindele-Oloyede surprisingly lost to Mercy Johnson in the \u2018Best Actress \u2013 Comedy (Movies\/TV)<\/em>\u2018.<\/p>\n The \u2018Best director\u2019 award however went to\u00a0Anita van Hemert<\/strong> and Chantel Carter<\/strong> \u00a0for the South African 2011 Drama movie \u2018Otelo Burning<\/em><\/strong>\u2018.
