{"id":34372,"date":"2013-02-27T11:14:13","date_gmt":"2013-02-27T11:14:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2013\/02\/vra-will-continue-to-have-problems-acep-boss\/"},"modified":"2013-02-27T11:14:13","modified_gmt":"2013-02-27T11:14:13","slug":"vra-will-continue-to-have-problems-acep-boss","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2013\/02\/27\/vra-will-continue-to-have-problems-acep-boss\/","title":{"rendered":"VRA will continue to have problems \u2013 ACEP Boss"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"medsection1\" readability=\"32.444570135747\">\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">Business News of Wednesday, 27 February 2013<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source:<\/strong> Adom FM<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/img.ghanamma.com\/uploads\/2013\/02\/793967929219.jpg\" alt=\"Vra Logo\" title=\"Vra Logo\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"c3\">Executive Director for the Africa Center for Energy Policy (ACEP) Mohammed Amin Adam has hinted that the Volta River Authority (VRA) will continue to face its current challenges if it does not receive the money owed it by government and the Electricity Company of Ghana.<\/p>\n<p>He said that until the VRA\u2019s financial viability is restored to enable it buy fuel to power its generators, the country will continue to suffer power shortages.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Amin Adam reported that the power generating measures outlined in the president\u2019s State of the Nation Address do not resolve the energy sector\u2019s immediate challenges.<\/p>\n<p>He said the problem is not one of generation; rather, the utility must be empowered to be financially stable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe issue is about procurement of fuel to bring all their plants into operation,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Adom FM, the energy expert urged government not look at generation alone but to secure the fuel necessary to power the plant.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the National Development Planning Commission should go around the country to better determine the national energy priorities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Business News of Wednesday, 27 February 2013 Source: Adom FM Executive Director for the Africa Center for Energy Policy (ACEP) Mohammed Amin Adam has hinted that the Volta River Authority (VRA) will continue to face its current challenges if it does not receive the money owed it by government and the Electricity Company of Ghana.
