{"id":25574,"date":"2013-02-11T20:41:03","date_gmt":"2013-02-11T20:41:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2013\/02\/afcon-retired-banker-dies-watching-nigeriaburkina-faso-match\/"},"modified":"2013-02-11T20:41:03","modified_gmt":"2013-02-11T20:41:03","slug":"afcon-retired-banker-dies-watching-nigeriaburkina-faso-match","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2013\/02\/11\/afcon-retired-banker-dies-watching-nigeriaburkina-faso-match\/","title":{"rendered":"Afcon : Retired banker dies watching Nigeria\/Burkina Faso match"},"content":{"rendered":"<div readability=\"63\">\n<p>Lagos \u2013 A retired banker, Felix Bassey, 65, died,\u00a0 Sunday, while watching the finals of the just-concluded Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) game at which Nigeria defeated Burkina Faso, 1-0.<\/p>\n<p>The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) gathered from a reliable source at The Eko Hospital, Ikeja, that the deceased was believed to have died of a heart-related ailment while watching the match at his residence in Akute area of Lagos.<\/p>\n<p>Bassey, slumped during the match was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors on duty.<\/p>\n<p>The source, who pleaded anonymity, told NAN that a member of the family confirmed that late Bassey had been hypertensive, prior to his death.<br \/>\u201cThe wife, one of the matrons in the hospital, happened to be on night duty when Bassey was rushed to the hospital,\u2019\u2019 it said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the remains of late Bassey had since been deposited at the hospital morgue.\u00a0 (NAN)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Comments are moderated.
