{"id":24678,"date":"2013-02-11T00:14:14","date_gmt":"2013-02-11T00:14:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2013\/02\/apc-panacea-to-nigerias-problem-rep\/"},"modified":"2013-02-11T00:14:14","modified_gmt":"2013-02-11T00:14:14","slug":"apc-panacea-to-nigerias-problem-rep","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2013\/02\/11\/apc-panacea-to-nigerias-problem-rep\/","title":{"rendered":"APC, panacea to Nigeria\u2019s problem \u2013 Rep"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p class=\"c4\">Former Secretary to the Edo State Government and member, House of Representatives, representing Owan Federal Constituency on the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria, Pally Iriase, has said last week\u2019s fusion of four opposition progressive parties into All Progressives Congress, is the panacea to Nigeria\u2019s problems.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\">Speaking in Benin, Edo State, shortly after Saturday\u2019s primaries where party candidates emerged ahead of the April 20 local council poll in the state, Iriase dispelled fears of likely individual ambitions in the newly formed party derailing its objective.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\">He also stated that the movers, during exploratory talks between key leaders of the new party, including former Head of State and Congress for Progressive Change presidential candidate in the 2011 general election, Muhammadu Buhari, and ACN leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, were able to address the issue.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\">He said, \u201cThe formation of APC is the right prescription for Nigeria\u2019s headache. I will liken its emergence to that very efficacious medicine we used when we were growing up; it was so good for headache.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\">However, the Forum for Justice and Human Rights Defence on Sunday asked the promoters of the APC to tell Nigerians the ideological leaning of the new party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\">The National Coordinator of the group, who spoke in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Yenagoa, said it was not enough for the new party to say that its objective was to wrest power from the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\">He argued that while individuals had fundamental human rights to form such associations, lack of ideologies accounted for the high level of corruption and defections in the country\u2019s multi-party system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c4\">Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the Progressive Peoples Alliance, Chief Sam Nkire, has predicted the failure of the merger of four opposition political parties in the country.<\/p>\n<p><span id=\"display-counter\" data-source=\"http:\/\/www.punchng.com\/wp-content\/themes\/punch\/lib\/counter.php?postid=90750&amp;server=http:\/\/www.punchng.com\/\"\/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Former Secretary to the Edo State Government and member, House of Representatives, representing Owan Federal Constituency on the platform of Action Congress of Nigeria, Pally Iriase, has said last week\u2019s fusion of four opposition progressive parties into All Progressives Congress, is the panacea to Nigeria\u2019s problems.
