Olubayo denied the allegations.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, the wife wants to leave him after finishing his money. The 28-year-old woman, who lives at 33, Omidokun Street, Agbado, Lagos,\u00a0 told the court that her marriage to her\u00a0 husband was not peaceful. \u201dMy husband doesn\u2019t care for me and the children. He doesn\u2019t give us money. Rather,\u00a0 he steals\u00a0 from the little I have\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201dHe is lazy and\u00a0 not ready to work. All he knows how to do is\u00a0 sleep, eat and derives pleasure in beating me. Olubayo talks anyhow to my mother and once\u00a0 fought\u00a0 her. Any time I ask for feeding allowance, he responds\u00a0 with slaps, and then\u00a0 beats\u00a0 me so hard.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The applicant\u00a0 told the court that she had\u00a0 made up her mind to dissolve the\u00a0 marriage.<\/p>\n<p>The mother of three asked the court\u00a0 for\u00a0 the custody of\u00a0 the\u00a0 children.<\/p>\n<p>The 39-year-old man, of 17, Kelani Street, Orile-Agege, denied the allegations. \u201cI am a professional footballer.\u00a0 I was in training for four months in Ghana when my wife threatened to kill herself if I did not come home\u201d, Olubayo said. \u201dBecause I love my wife, I terminated the contact I had with my club and came to Nigeria.<\/p>\n<p>She told me that she didn\u2019t want me to leave her for a night, so I looked for another job\u00a0 but couldn\u2019t find. I spent all the money I had on her and when the money\u00a0 finished, she refused to assist me in providing for the family. She nags a lot, talks too much and she is\u00a0 materialistic. If she wants to leave me, no problem, life goes on\u201d. Court President, Mr Joseph Adewusi, adjourned the case for further hearing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Comments are moderated.
