Federation of Youth Clubs (FYC), whose membership comprise youth of Ayawaso East and North, has petitioned Parliament\u2019s Appointments Committee and, by extension, Parliament of Ghana to reject President John Dramani Mahama\u2019s nomination of Nana Oye Lithur as Minister-designate for Gender, Children and Social Protection.<\/p>\n

According to them, Nana Oye Lithur has grown to be virtually a \u201cprincipal spokesperson\u201d of the homosexual community in Ghana.<\/p>\n

In a statement jointly signed by Adam Siddique Zagoon, President of FYC, Mohammed Dawoud Yabaaba, General Secretary, and Mohammed Muzel, Financial Secretary, FYC says it is left without a doubt that the appointment of Nana Oye Lithur will be \u201cnothing but the promotion and legalization of homosexualism in Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to FYC, homosexualism, in all its forms, is a foreign practice, which is \u201ccriminal\u201d, \u201cterrible\u201d and \u201chorrible\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat is the more reason why we must join hands to fight any one who in a way is related to the Gay Right Community,\u201d the statement indicated.<\/p>\n

They cited that the 1992 Constitution frowns on the practice while the Ghana Health Service has listed gayism and lesbianism as the root cause of many diseases in Ghana.<\/p>\n

The group drew the late President John Atta Mills in their argument, saying he \u201cwill be weeping seriously and profusely to seeing his predecessor, His Excellency, John Mahama appoint Nana Oye Lithur, a woman who has fought him and gave him sleepless night; simply because he refused to endorse gayism and lesbianism in Ghana.\u201d<\/p>\n

They questioned President Mahama\u2019s loyalty to his former boss as his appointment of Nana Oye Lithur shows he disagreed with late President Mills on the issue.<\/p>\n

They further asked President Mahama to, at the least, change Nana Oye\u2019s portfolio.<\/p>\n

\u201cMaintaining her in that Ministry will presuppose to us that, the President and the Government of Ghana has changed its radical stance on homosexualism and now want to legalize it or promote it through Nana Oye Lithur.\u201d<\/p>\n
