In the Dark Ages, it may have been perfectly acceptable to punish your child with a sword. In modern-day Florida, it turns out that\u2019s quite illegal.<\/p>\n

Juan Javier Lovine was arrested afterallegedly stabbing his adult daughter with a souvenir sword\u00a0purchased at Medieval Times, the Orlando Sentinel reported.<\/p>\n

According to police, Lovine and his daughter became involved in a domestic dispute that escalated into violence after he allegedly pushed her against a wall. Cops say the woman punched her father in the face \u201cin self-defense,\u201d drawing blood.<\/p>\n

St. Cloud police Sgt. Denise Roberts told the Orlando Sentinel that Lovine then \u201cstabbed [his daughter] in the right forearm and chest with a 5-foot-long sword.\u201d WESH reported that the\u00a0blade went through the woman\u2019s arm and \u201cpenetrated her chest.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Isabel Rego, Lovine\u2019s mother, the 44-year-old man keeps a collection of swords at home, and only meant to \u201cpoke\u201d his daughter in the chest.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police put in there [a report] that he tried to kill her,\u201d Rego told the Sentinel. \u201cThat is not true. He loves her. They just don\u2019t get along.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rego was also arrested\u00a0after allegedly interfering with police when they arrived on the scene, Local 10 News reported.<\/p>\n

Police charged Lovine with attempted felony murder, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and domestic violence. He is being held without bond at Osceola County Jail. His daughter, whose name has not been released, was listed in stable condition at an area hospital, and is expected to recover.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
