A Norfolk, Va., man faces weapons charges after accidentally shooting himself in the leg during a\u00a0road rage\u00a0incident Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Neighbors said\u00a0Rhonney Jacobs, 46, was speeding in a residential neighborhood where children were playing.<\/p>\n
According to Fox News, a couple of men flagged Jacobs down and told him to ease up on the gas. Jacobs apparently didn\u2019t like that, so he wheeled his car around, got out and\u00a0threatened them with a .45 calibergun only a few feet from where kids were playing.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy friends were standing right there in the yard and the guy came flying by and they were like \u2018slow down, there\u2019s kids\u2019 and the guy did a U-turn and pulled over,\u201d Ashley Summerson told WTKR. \u201c[He] \u2026pulled his gun out trying to shoot one of [the men] but he shot himself.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Virginian-Pilot reported that \u201c[Jacobs] struggled with another man, and the gun fired,\u201d hitting him in the leg.<\/p>\n
Jacobs was treated at an area hospital for a leg wound. His wounds were not life threatening. He is charged with discharging and brandishing a firearm.<\/p>\n
I\u2019m just happy none of the kids got hurt. I\u2019d rather get shot than one of these kids,\u201d neighbor Zach Watson, who witnessed the event, told the station.<\/p>\n
Road rage is pretty much always a bad idea, and worse so when guns are involved.<\/p>\n
In March, a case of\u00a0road rage escalated into gunplay\u00a0after a North Carolina man punched the driver of a truck he was accused of trying to \u201crun off the road.\u201d<\/p>\n
Deputies told WNCT that suspect Bradley Turner\u00a0pulled a gun and shot the truck and a nearby house\u00a0after being beaten to the ground by the driver and one of his passengers.<\/p><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
