The hard-tackling midfielder whipped in a free-kick from 20 yards which rocketed into the top left corner in their 1-1 draw with JSM Bejaia.

Goalkeeper Si Mohammed, who fully stretched to parry the ball, collided with the side post  and had to be replaced by Yacine Djebarat.

But Mohammed Derrag drew the Algerians level with a sublime finish on 73 minutes.

Kotoko have scored 145 goals at home in the history of the competition.

The two-time African champions were playing their 133rd game in the history of the continent’s flagship competition.
