Parliament, On Tuesday, approved nine Deputy Minister-designates nominated by President Mahama to assist the work of nine substantive ministers managing nine regions of the country
They include Mr. Samuel Yaw Adusei, Deputy Regional Minister for the Ashanti Region, Mr. Justice Samuel Adjei, Deputy Regional Minister for the Brong-Ahafo Region, Mrs. Queenstar Pokua Sawyerr, Central Region, and Ms
Mavis Ama Frimpong, Deputy Minister for the Eastern Region.
The rest are Mr. Isaac N. Djanmah, Deputy Minister for Greater Accra, Mr. Daniel Awenyue Syme, Deputy Minister for Upper East, Mr. Abu Kasangbata, Deputy Minister for Upper West, Mr. Francis Ganyaglo, Deputy Minister for Volta Region, and Mr. Alfred Ekow Gyan, Deputy Minister for the Western Region.
The approval comes barely a week after the nominees were subjected to public scrutiny by the Appointment Committee of Parliament on measures they would pursue to alleviate poverty, creation of jobs, security issues, and other matters relating to their respective roles assigned them by the President.
The report of the committee for the approval was moved by the Chairman of the Appointment Committee and First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Barton Odro, on the floor of the House.
He stated that the ministers above had appeared before the Appointment Committee to answer questions relating to their respective regions, hence the report was submitted to House for debate and subsequent approval.
Some members of the majority side supported the report and called on the august House to give approval of the deputy ministers.
But the New Patriotic Party (NPP) minority MPs, like all approval of the ministers nominated by President Mahama, did not take part in the debate and approval of the Deputy Ministers.
