Kevin-Prince Boateng has given the biggest hint that he wants to play for Ghana again insisting he would even walk off in the final of the World Cup if he was racially abused.
The AC Milan star’s only chance of playing in the world’s biggest football competition is by reversing his self-imposed international exile from the Black Stars.
He made this claim in the wake of the debate on the issue of racism in football after leading his fellow Milan players off the pitch during a friendly in Italy.
But the revelation by the German-born midfielder that he would walk off in the World Cup final will not be welcomed by many Ghanaians who would view it that he is only interested in playing for the Black Stars in the big tournament where he is likely to get fame and fortune.
Asked if he would walk off again if abused, he told CNN World Sport: “I think we should not accept and tolerate it anywhere, in any game. Even if it’s a World Cup final, if it’s a Champions League final.
“For me, honestly, I would do it even in the Champions League final. If I feel it is racial abuse, I would do it even in the Champions League final.”
The AC Milan quit the Black Stars few months after gaining fame and fortune when he played for Ghana at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Boateng was then playing for relegated English club Portsmouth but his showing for Ghana at the tournament in South Africa helped him to get the big money move to AC Milan.
Boateng has been appointed to Fifa’s new anti-discrimination task force.
