Ghana midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has been ruled out of AC Milan’s opening Serie-A game at Hellas Verona through injury.
The 26-year-old limped off as he was being replaced in Mialn’s 1-1 draw in the UEFA Champions League playoff againts PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday.
Boateng’s injury exercebates the woes of manager Massimiliano Allegri for Saturday’s Serie-A opener as he will also be without Nigel De Jong who also came off injured in Tuesday’s match.
Allegri will also be without fellow Ghanaian Sulley Muntari who is still serving a suspension for a red card he took at the tail end of last season.
The news of Boateng’s injury could serve a massive blow to Ghana following his decision to return to international football.
The former Portsmouth man is believed to be in line for his first Black Stars call up in over two years for next month’s crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia.
He will however miss this important game if he fails to make a quick recovery in time for the match to be played on September 6 in Kumasi.
