Ashanti NDC Propaganda Secretary Suspended

Mr. Justice Alfa, Ashanti Regional Propaganda Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), has been suspended indefinitely by the regional executive committee for show of gross indiscipline.

The action was taken at an emergency executive meeting held at the Regional party office on Wednesday, this week.

Two others, the Kwadaso Constituency chairman and the organizer who picked a brawl with Alfa, have also been handed an indefinite suspension.

They have been summoned to appear before the regional disciplinary committee on Tuesday August 27, for a determination of their status in the party.

Their suspension is in consonance with Article 40 of the party’s constitution which talks about membership discipline.

Deputy Regional Propaganda secretary, Alex Opoku, has been asked to step in the shoes of Alfa as acting propaganda secretary.

Mr. Alfa, who doubled as NDC Parliamentary candidate for Kwadaso Constituency in the 2012 elections, was shown the exit for refusing to return a Mahindra vehicle that was offered him for campaigning.

He was reportedly asked by the constituency chairman to return the vehicle upon request by the party chiefs.

But he allegedly draped a letter copied to him in human excreta and dumped it on the chairman and the organizer, saying he was unwilling to tender the vehicle.

This ‘uncouth’ behaviour triggered the skirmishes thus leading to the trading of invectives and fisticuffs among the party folks.

Checks at the constituency indicate that Mr. Alfa has been at logger heads with his executives for barely a year.

According to the regional youth organsier, Kwaku Boahen, the executive committee moved in to crack the whip in order to ensure that sanity prevails.

“We are extremely disappointed in the executives for their action and will do all within our powers to ensure peace,” he said.
