Governor Suntai to Return to Nigeria Saturday – Wife

The ailing Taraba State governor, Danbaba Suntai, who sustained severe brain injuries in a plane crash in October 2012, is expected to depart the Sea View Hospital Rehabilitation Centre and Home located in New York for Nigeria on August 25.

The governor’s wife, Hauwa Suntai, who is currently in New York, said this in a telephone interview on Tuesday.

She said that arrangements had been concluded for the return of the governor, who had spent some months at the rehabilitation centre.

Mrs. Suntai also expressed the family’s appreciation to all who had in many ways supported the family throughout their trying moment.

Some Nigerians living in New York have volunteered to accompany the governor home.

On August 3, members of the PDP Fact-finding Committee on the Taraba political situation, led by its chairman, Senator Hope Uzodinma, paid solidarity visit to the governor at the rehabilitation centre.

Mr. Uzodinma was accompanied by the Special Adviser to the PDP National Chairman on INEC and Inter-party Affairs, Shittu Mohammed, the Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters, Ahmed Gulak, Abubakar Gada and the Consul-General of Nigeria in New York, Habib Habu.

“We are impressed with what we have seen and we thank God for that. We will take back home what we have seen and we will inform the leadership of the party.

“We are impressed; we are also happy that the governor is recovering. We will still go back home and relate what we have seen,” he said after the visit.
