A planned demonstration by some angry NPP youth in Tamale has been stopped by the leadership of the party in the region.
The outraged and angry youth vowed to embark on a series of demonstrations to express their dissatisfaction over the sentencing of five NPP youth activists by a Tamale High Court.
Yahuza Yakubu, Abibu Dagbana, Majeed Alhassan, Alhassan Sayibu and Imoro Gundaana were on Tuesday sentenced by a five member Jury.
As of last Tuesday night, NPP leadership in the Tamale metropolis moved from area to area and engaged the youth especially in Aboabo to remain calm.
Meanwhile the general secretary of the NPP Kwodwo Owusu Afriyie is in Tamale to sympathize with relatives of the jailed NPP supporters.
Party Chairman Jake Obetsebi Lamptey said the party fully supports attempts by their lawyers to appeal. ”We will be in full support of that process to take this matter to its logical conclusion through the courts.”
