Sack Kofi Adams And Owusu Bempah

The Central Regional Executives and members of the National Democratic Party (NDP) have called on former President Jerry John Rawlings to sack Mr Kofi Adams, his spokesperson.

They have also called on Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, founder of NDP, to, as a matter of urgency, sack Ernest Owusu Bempah, the Deputy National Communications Director of NDP, from the party.

According to them, if these two personalities were not shown the exit on or before August 25, 2013, they would hit the streets with a peaceful demonstration.

A press release to the media on Monday, August 19, 2013, signed by the Regional Chairman, Egya Amoh and Seth Birikorang, Regional Communications Director and other constituency executives, a copy of which is in the possession of the Daily Graphic, stated that Mr Adams, who played a pivotal role in the formation of the NDP, betrayed the party by later campaigning for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to the statement, at an emergency meeting of the party, Mr Adams was the one who helped to choose colours for the NDP, as well as made certain suggestions to guide the activities of the party.

They alleged that rumours making rounds indicated that Mr Adams was using the name of former President Rawlings to reach out to prospective MMDCE candidates giving them hope that they would be appointed by President John Dramani Mahama.

They pointed out that if such rumours were established to be true, then former President Rawlings should not hesitate to sack Mr Adams from his office.

It stated further that the NDP was formed on the cardinal principles of probity, accountability and social justice, the very principes upon which the NDC was formed.

It added that the NDP was formed to wrest power from the NDC that had put aside those principles, ‘revealing’ that they were aware the architects behind the disqualification of the NDP from the 2012 general election by the Electoral Commission were Mr Adams and Mr Owusu Bempah.

‘’We wonder why Owusu Bempah, who is known to be fearless when it comes to matters of facts and truths, had refused to speak against Kofi Adams for his gross betrayal of the NDP, being a founder member and turning round later to support the NDC,’’ the release asserted.

The statement dispelled speculations that card-bearing members of the party had resigned, giving the assurance that the party members were firmly united and were strongly behind their elected executives to carry out the aims and principles of the former first couple.
