He said he would not hesitate to crack the whip on any personality under his ministry who would display unruly behaviour in the line of duty.

‘So far as I remain the Local Government Minister, I will make sure that all people that work under this ministry behave appropriately.’

Speaking on radio, the Local Government Minister called on public officials to lead worthy lives.

Last week, Hon. Opong-Fosu banned Nana Kofi Senya, the Presiding Member of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) from all programmes of the Local Government Ministry.

Explaining further, he said his directive was to punish the KMA PM for misbehaving in public.

According to him, Nana Senya flared up when the KMA Boss, Kojo Bonsu approached him to sign a document of the assembly in his presence.

Hon. Opong-Fosu said he was astounded when Nana Senya hurled insults at Kojo Bonsu in public.

According to him, Nana Senya was the aggressor in the altercation, which attracted people to the scene.

He noted that the unfortunate incident occurred at the forecourt of the RCC Conference Room in Kumasi during an event of the Local Government Ministry.

The minister said he has nothing against Nana Senya, explaining that the ban would serve as deterrent to others.

Hon. Opong-Fosu debunked rumours that it would prevent Nana Senya from performing his duties.

Setting the records straight, he disclosed that Nana Senya would not attend programmes of the Ministry of Local Government.

He admitted that Nana Senya apologized to him after the programme but he decided to sanction him.
