Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Awal-Issah could be in action for South African side AmaZulu as soon as next week as he has acquired the work permit for him to play in the country’s top-flight league.

It was originally feared that another transfer dispute was brewing after sporting director of Norwegian side Erik Hoftun cried foul over Awal-Issah’s return to the South African club. http://ghanasoccernet.com/rosenborg-deny-ghanaian-mohammed-awal-issah-has-been-sold-to-amazulu/

The midfielder was on a free transfer from Rosenborg when he started training with Amazulu in June but Hoftun claimed the player has not been released for free.

But AmaZulu general manager Peter O’Connor has allayed all the fears insisting the only issue was his work-permit.

‘Rosenborg was not the problem; we were waiting for his work-permit,’ AmaZulu general manager Peter O’Connor told Kickoff.

‘I don’t know who made that comment because it certainly wasn’t in the email correspondence we had with them. That matter was never raised or discussed.

‘They’ve given us the clearance and have completed the ITC clearance. We’ve had verbal notification from Home Affairs that it [work-permit] is out and we just have to make sure we get it in the next day or two.’

Issah played for AmaZulu for one-and-a-half seasons before being sold to Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade.

He was later sold to Rosenborg to replace compatriot Anthony Annan but he could not meet expectations.

He was down the pecking order at Rosenborg behind by Ole Selnæs, Mikkel Diskerud and Jonas Svensson in midfield.

In January, Issah was loaned out to Greek side Veria but he terminated the move and said: ‘The situation at the club was so bad.’
