Egypt: 360 MB Members in Custody for 15 Days Pending Investigations

The public prosecution ordered the detention of 360 Muslim Brotherhood members for 15 days pending investigations into accusations of storming Azbakeya police station on Friday.

The suspects face charges of thuggery, disrupting public transportation means, resisting authorities, damaging private and public property, attempted murder and possessing unlicensed arms in clashes that erupted in Ramsis Square which centered at the police station and the nearby Al-Fatah mosque.

On Friday, security forces at Azbakeya Police Station clashed with a number of armed Muslim Brotherhood supporters in downtown Cairo. The forces responded by firing teargas bombs to disperse the assailants, who later took refuge in the mosque and fired at the police from its minaret.
