A member of the Communications Team of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Charles Owusu has attributed the bad perception people have of political parties to the attitude of some ‘leading/founding’ members.
According to him, no true leading member of a political would want the name of the party dragged through the mud unless there is a hidden agenda.
Charles Owusu was commenting on calls by a founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Dr. Nyaho Nyhao Tamakloe for the immediate resignation of the party’s General Secretary, Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie following his conviction of criminal contempt by the apex court of Ghana.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe insisted that Sir John, who nurses the ambitioning to retain the general secretary position of his party, must resign honourably.
“As far as lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie is concerned, and what happened in court when he was totally humiliated by his own speech, I think the most honourable thing for him to do now is to resign as the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party. Believe me that will save him and save the party,” the NPP Founding Member said.
Speaking on Adom FM, the PPP communicator said, some individuals hides behind the title “Founding and Leading” member and virtually run down everything in the name of differing opinion.
“What annoys me is when they say or write something, they address themselves as founding and leading members of the party. There is no need for such title. The young boys do all the dirty work in the party and they (bigwigs) will be in their houses and address themselves as founding and leading members.
“…On which radio station does he (Nyaho Tamakloe) go on and advise or even talk about the progressiveness of Ghana? He should have called Sir John to advise him but he never did that and instead is calling for his resignation. What Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe did was below the belt,” he said.
