Asantehene Otumfuo, Nana Addo Rock Kumasi

Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, 2012 presidential candidate of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) had a nice time in Kumasi recently after attending a thanksgiving service.

The service was in memory of the late Akomferehene and Madam Abena Kufuor respectively.

The two dignitaries drove in the Otumfuo’s Rolls Royce from the Manhyia Palace through some principal streets of the Ashanti Regional capital ending up at the St. Anne’s Anglican Church at Ashanti New Town where the service was held.

It was a moment of fanfare as Kumasi residents massed up on the streets to catch a glimpse of the two powerful men.

There was also spontaneous jubilation when they arrived at the church to ask for God’s blessings for the departed.

The church then invited the Otumfuo and Nana Akufo-Addo for a communion after which they were blessed by the officiating ministers.

After the service, they drove back to Manhyia Palace where the two had closed-door discussions.

According to sources, the discussion centred on the political tension currently in the country partly as a result of the ongoing Presidential Election Petition at the Supreme Court.
