Sierra Leone: Malaria, Polio, Top Priority for Health Ministry

The minister of health and sanitation, Ms. Miatta Kargbo, has said that her ministry was striving to improve the health sector in the country. Ms. Kargbo was speaking at a one-day discussion forum at the ministry’sYouyi Building conference room organized jointly with the World Health Organization and UNICEF on how to improve the health sector in the country.

The ministry would prioritise the tackling of malaria, polio, reproductive health and communicable diseases, she said.

“So far we have made progress and we are going to do more,” said the minister, mentioning for instance, recent efforts to control malaria.

The health ministry has been distributing free bed nets in the country while at the same time sensitizing the public on the importance of a healthy nation.
