The Greater Accra Police Command has foiled a planned demonstration at Teshie over the installation of a chief in the town about two months ago.
The Police also apprehended 23 youths of the area who, according to Joy News sources had also threatened to attack the residence of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area.
“So we are also looking at that planned attack on the MP’s residence, [and] linking it to the intended demonstration”, said ASP Freeman Tettey.
The threats by the youth came after they accused the MP, Sena Okity-Duah, of not being responsive to their demands to use her influence to ensure the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Daniel Amartey Mensah, is reinstated.
DSP Freeman Tettey, Greater Accra Police Public Relations Officer, said they are holding the 23 people for assembling for an illegal demonstration, while they investigate the alleged threat – which was issued through an anonymous letter.
