Daily Post Can’t Do Without Lies – Sammy Awuku

The role of every media outlet is to inform, educate and entertain. But for a media house to deliberately tell lies in order to make ends meet is something which is quite alarming.

According to the deputy communications director for the New Patriotic Party, such is the trait of the Daily Post newspaper since its inception. Mr. Sammy Awuku comments was a reaction to a publication in the said newspaper on Nana Akufo Addo’s formation of his government should the Supreme Court declare him as the ultimate winner of last year’s election.

The Daily Post newspaper published that the NPP’s flagbearer had plans to make Col. Damoah the next National Security Co-ordinator and Sammy Awuku, the next deputy Local Government minister. Also, the paper claims the current vice-Chairman of the NPP, Mr. Fred Oware, would be appointed as Chief of Staff under Nana Addo’s government.

But in an interview with Okay FM, Mr. Awuku flatly denied the story and maintained no such meeting has been held to discuss the matter. He explains he does not know where the story originates from and wonders how the news editor conjured it.

Mr. Awuku stated that the party was only focused on the outcome of the Supreme Court verdict and not ministerial appointments. He avers that even if such a decision will be taken, it wouldn’t be in the bosom of the party’s flag bearer but rather a joint work between him and the party heads.

“I simply can’t tell where the Daily Post newspaper got this information from. All I can say is that no such meeting has ever been held and it would do us all good if Micheal Dokosi would come out of his shell, and explain”, he said.
