Ghanaian forward Fred Benson scored twice for PEC Zwolle when they trounced NEC 5-1 in the Dutch Eredivisie on Saturday.
The 29-year-old scored the third goal eight minutes before the break with a clinical finish before and added the fourth four minutes after break before Moroccan Yonness Mokhtar added the fifth at the Goffertstadion in Nijmegen.
Zwolle took the lead after 15 minutes, when Jesper Drost saw his initial effort parried by Karl-Johan Johnsson, and followed up to head into the empty net.
Three minutes later, after some more poor defending from the home side, Kamohelo Mokotjo doubled Zwolle’s lead, while Fred Benson got involved on 40 minutes to make it 3-0, and send boos ringing around the stadium.
The second half did not get any better for the home side, as Benson tapped in on 52 minutes, before Youness Mokhtar fired into the bottom corner three minutes later to make it 5-0.
It was Benson’s first goals of the season as the PEC made it three wins out of three games.
