Al Ain Board Chairman Sheikh Abdullah Mohd Khalid S Al Nahyan has hailed Asamoah Gyan on his return from his midweek heroics for the Black Stars.
Gyan came on as a second half substitute to score a sensational brace to earn Ghana a 2-2 draw in the international friendly match against Turkey last Wednesday.
The 27-year-old’s international exploits has flogged the headlines in UAE ahead of the start of the new campaign.
The former Sunderland hitman was one of the late arrivals to the Al Ain pre-season camp in Austria following his engagement with the Black Stars in midweek.
His arrival was however hailed by the club’s board chairman who willing the Black Stars captain to continue with his fine form into the new season.
‘Gyan joining camp is good and he did well in the match against Turkey where he scored a brace,’ Sheikh Abdullah said.
‘We wished he would not have gone to that match but he is the captain and his national team needed him and he did well.
‘Scoring two goals will give him high morale by the beginning of the season and he is important player for us and now he is kicking off his third season with us.’
Gyan is in his third season with the Boss – during which period he has helped the side win back-to-back Premier League titles while also clinching the goal king award on two successive occasions.
