Asamoah Gyan has now scored nine goals in eleven matches for the Black Stars since the turn of the year.

The Ghana captain is in the form of his life after enduring a difficult international patch last year.

The 27-year-old started the year by scoring in Ghana’s pre-2013 Nations Cup warm up games against Tunisia and Egypt where he scored one in each match.

The Al Ain ace didn’t have an impressive tournament as he finished the Nations Cup hosted in South African with just one goal in six matches.

He however bounced back in style by scoring a cumulative three goals in back-to-back games against Sudan in the 2014 World Cup qualifier.

The ex Sunderland striker scored one in the 4-0 thrashing of Sudan in the first leg and hit a brace in the return encounter played in Omdurman.

He continued with his rich vein of form by scoring in the win over Lesotho a few weeks later to help send Ghana at least a draw away from progression in the World Cup qualifying series.

This form has now been extended as the Black Stars captain came off the bench to lead an impressive comeback to score both goals in Ghana’s 2-2 draw with Turkey on Wednesday night.

His goals at the turn of the year has seen him draw even closer to becoming Ghana’s all-time leading – a record he is now just three goals shy off.

Gyan’s form has come in handy and will be greatly required when Ghana host Zambia in the deciding 2014 World Cup qualifier on September 6 in Kumasi.
