Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan has hailed the mentality of the Black Stars after the rallied from two goals down to hold Turkey to a 2-2 drawn game in an international friendly at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.
The Al Ain-man came off the substitute bench to score a second-half double to level the scoring after Burak Yilmaz and Umut Bulut net for the hosts inside the first 30 minutes.
He produced an individual brilliance on the 61st minute with a powerful which came off the goalkeeper before bouncing in to half the deficit.
Gyan then registered his 37th Ghana goal with a pinpoint header from a Daniel Opare weighted cross from the right, a goal that stunned the home fans.
And Gyan feels the West African giants displayed strong mentality to fight back and claim a draw against Southeastern Europeans.
“It was like a mental game, we were two goals down and at the end of the game we came back to equalise. It was a balanced game and I would like to congratulate the boys,” he said after the game.
Ghana used the game as warm-up for the all-important 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia in September.
