Egypt/Uganda: Hosts Egypt Stun Cranes

El Gouna — Cranes suffered a psychological setback ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifier against Senegal after collapsing to a 3-0 defeat against Egypt in a high-profile friendly Wednesday evening.

Ahmed Hassan helped the hosts to a first-half lead on 22 minutes before Mohamed Salah and Ibrahim Salah struck on 57 and 84 minutes respectively to hand coach Micho Sredojevic his second defeat on the road.

“It was important that we had this friendly because I have identified the mistakes and five players with potential. Richard (Kasagga) impressed me. We had chances to score but Okwi missed one of them,”Micho, told New Vision after the game.

The Serbian, who has registered an impressive start in all his home matches, lost 3-0 to Libya in his first game in charge in Tripoli.

In the build-up to the game, Micho (top) had hinted that among his priorities would be to experiment with various formations and players.

The game was shifted to El Gouna due to the political unrest in Cairo and was attended by just 300 Egyptian fans.
