Boxing News of Saturday, 10 August 2013 Source: GNA Special Correspondent, USA Emmanuel “Game Boy” Tagoe displayed one of the best performances in his career to annex the vacant International Boxing Federation (IBF) Inter-Continental Super Featherweight title by recording a technical knockout (TKO) over Gerardo Robbles at the Morongo Casino and SPA in California, United States of America (USA).Tagoe, who exhibited strong signs of determination to win the fight, attacked his opponent right from round one with series of body punches which Robbles found difficult to give equal response.Robbles came back strongly in the second round, but Tagoe remained the dominant boxer in the round and continued in the third and fourth round, landing more damaging punches to the body and face of Robles.Tagoe, opened a cut under the right eye of his opponent in the fifth round with swift combination of punches to the face and occasional body punches, especially on the ribs of Robbles to wore him down.The fight which was one of the best performances of the tough talking Tagoe saw him subjecting his opponent to further punishment, as Robbles struggled to find his balance in the sixth round.The aggression of the Ghanaian in the ninth round, was an indication of his attempt to knock out the Mexican, as he mounted more pressure on his opponent, pushed him to the corner, over-powered him with over head and body punches that obviously weakened the Mexican, based in the United States of America.It was therefore no surprise when Robbles failed to respond to the bell in the 11th round, compelling the referee to signal the end of the fight, amidst jubilation in the corner of the Ghanaian.
