Prez Mahama’s Recent Remark Shows He Did Something Wrong During 2012 Elections

Ghanaians are yet to know from the Supreme Court the winner of the election petition filed by Nana Akufo Addo, Jake Obestebi Lamptey and Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia; but a few days ago, President John Dramani Mahama virtually declared himself as winner.

The president made his somewhat controversial comment when he paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam Sheikh Nuhu Sharabutu in Accra. He openly stated that he did nothing wrong in the 2012 presidential elections and expressed optimism that the verdict would vindicate him.

But a spokesperson for the petitioners, Lawyer Buaben Asamoah, believes the president’s speech is appalling. He maintains President Mahama shouldn’t have made those comments during his visit and pointed out that his continuous talks, gives an indication that he did something wrong during the 2012 general elections.

According to him, if one is to analyze the comment, one can safely come to the conclusion that President Mahama is privy to a powerful secret or has seen something no one has access to.

‘If he can confidently say that he will emerge victorious and hasn’t committed any crime, it tells us he has…or heard something we don’t know. With the exception of the Supreme Court judges, there is absolutely no one who knows the winner of the case. This makes the president’s speech contemptuous’, he said on Okay FM.
