Stay Away From Our Investigations – Police Tells NDC

The Volta regional police has issued a warning to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to interfere with its investigation in to the Nkwanta North vandalism case.

“We want to tell the party hierarchy to stay away from it so that we can deal with the issue.”

According to the police, the issue, at this point, is a criminal matter that needed to be handled professionally.

The police are investigating acts of vandalism committed by the a section of the youth in the area. They are reported to have destroyed party properties after protesting the re-nomination of Paul Dsato as District Chief Executive (DCE).

In an interview with Citi News the Volta Regional commander, ACP Fred Agyapong Asare, indicated that so long as the party hierarchy took little action to stop the youth from committing such offences, “we want them to stay away so that we can deal with them as criminals.”

ACP Agyapong Asare further stated that his outfit was going to pursue all persons involved in the matter, including the NDC constituency executives in Nkwanta North.

“Most of them have run away, it does not mean that we are going to stop our investigations. The police will continue to pursue them because the law frowns on the kind of behavior that they put up.”

Meanwhile, the Deputy Constituency Organizer for Nkwanta North, Samson Nfulamba, who spoke to Citi News from his hideout noted that they were not hiding because they were afraid the police will arrest them.
