English Premier League side Cardiff City have released Ghanaian youth striker Jesse Asiedu Darko from his contract, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

The 19-year-old did not make a senior appearance for the Bluebirds despite signing a professional contract three seasons ago.

Cardiff are trimming their senior team squad and boss Malky Mackay feels the Austrian-born would not fit into his plans for the coming season and has released him.

Darko joined League Two side AFC Wimbledon in February and made 12 appearances, finding the net once at the Kingsmeadow.

Staying at Cardiff could have offered him the chance to play top-flight football with Cardiff who have gained promotion back to elite division.

He is likely to move back to the Kingsmeadow where AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley remain a big fan of the forward.
