Ghana Must Sustain Culture For Future Generation

Nana Kobina Nketsia, Omanhene of Essikado Traditional Area in Sekondi, has appealed to Ghanaians to uphold the value of Ghanaian culture for future generation.

He said any attempt to either adulterate or stop observing the nation’s culture has the tendency to affect the nation since culture contribute largely to the identification of one’s origin.

Nana Nketsia made the call when management of MTN Ghana presented a cheque for GHC3, 000, recharge cards and souvenirs towards the celebration of Essikado’s Kundum festival.

Nana Kobina Nketsia said it was against this backdrop that festivals are held not only for entertainment but to remind people, especially the youth of the existence of the nation’s rich culture in order for them to practice and sustain it.

He said the celebration of the Essikado Kumdum festival aims at taking stock of their performance and activities and come out with plans for the area’s development.

The priority projects are the construction of a skills development centre and the provision of football kits.

The celebration of the festival has the theme “celebrating the spirit of African culture”.

Mr Abubakar Mohammed, Senior General Manager of the Western and Central regions of the MTN Ghana, who made the presentation, said his company recognized the importance of culture, hence the support towards a successful celebration.
