AshantiGold coach Bashir Hayford is confident he will find suitable replacements for the two key departures in his team.

First choice goalkeeper Fatawu Dauda has been sold to Orlando Pirates while lead striker Yakubu Mohammed has also been transferred to Maritzburg United this offseason.

The departure of the two key players is fuelling subtle fears amongst the club fans over the strength of their team ahead of the upcoming season.

But coach Hayford believes he is competent enough to find suitable replacements to ensure his side is at full power to remain competitive in the new season.

“I have been doing this throughout my career (finding replacements),” he told Accra-based Radio Gold.

“If you don’t have a car you don’t buy spare parts. The car is the team.

“And when anything goes wrong with it like missing a piece you go and get the parts in town and fix the car.

“We have some young players who can be used or if we have to bring in any player of course we would.”

AshGold failed to mount a serious challenge in the past season where they could only manage a 6th place finish.

They however look to make a more significant impact in the coming season and will be looking to use parts of the monies realized from the sale of the two key players to strengthen this summer.
