Youth Tasked To Be Innovative

The Rector of the Takoradi Polytechnic, Reverend Professor Daniel Agyepong Nyarko, on Monday appealed to the youth to come up with innovative ideas that would solve societal problems.

He said the youth must be creative in inventing strategies that would better the lot of the people and help accelerate the socio-economic development of the country.

He said innovation is the soul for development without which the wheel of societal development would grind to a halt.

He, therefore, entreated the youth to look around their environment and devise means of changing the fortunes of society for the better.

Rev. Prof. Nyarko said when addressing participants at the opening of a two-week workshop on Innovative Design for Development in Takoradi.

The workshop aimed at empowering the youth to create innovative solutions to the country’s developmental challenges and develop entrepreneurial skills that would make them self-employed.

It was organised by Innovate Ghana in collaboration with the GREMKAY International, the Takoradi Polytechnic and Sustainable Infrastructure Africa.

The Rector expressed regret at the plastic waste menace in the country and tasked the participants to submerge themselves into critical thinking in order to create opportunity to recycle those waste without harming the environment.

Prof. Gregory Yawson, President of the GREMKAY International, a privately owned organisation based in Michigan, USA, said the Organisation aims at developing and transforming socio-economically vibrant rural communities.

This could be done by teaming up with educated, competent and skilled workforce, to lead sustainable community development across the 10 regions of the country, he added.
