Hearts of Oak’s decision to play in Africa will be based on their financial wherewithal and that will be taken by the board.

The Accra-based side could qualify for the 2014 CAF Confederation after Ghana regained its two lost slots.

Hearts, who were losing semi-finalists, are billed to play Amidaus Professionals-who also lost Kotoko-to decide the representative from the Ghana FA Cup.

The 2000 African champions have not played in Africa since 2005 when they were eliminated from the qualifiers of the CAF Champions League.

And it looks like the Phobians will pass up the chance to return to Africa.

“Of course if we have our own way we would want to play in Africa and indeed, if we had won either the league or FA Cup, it would have been mandatory to play,” the club’s acting administrative manager Hackman Aidoo told the Graphic Sports.

“However, with this latest development, the board will have to meet to decide as the major consideration will be financial.”
