Asante Kotoko have appointed former Ghana BAR Association President Paul Adu Gyamfi as Acting Executive Board Chairman, Ghanasoccernet.com can exclusively confirm.

However the decision to enthrone the renowned legal practitioner would much depend on the endorsement of Manhyia.

A high-powered seven-member board team announced the decision in Kumasi after hours of deliberation to resolve the managerial crisis that has rocked the club for the Ghana Premier League title-holders.

“The board has unanimously appointed Lawyer Adu Gyamfi to lead the club for the main time until Otumfour comes up with further directive,” Board member Jerry Asare told Accra-based Asempa FM.

The position became vacant after Dr Desmond Kodua-Sarpong quit the role last week after mounting pressure from the club’s fans in Kumasi.

Dr Sarpong, who despite his resignation as Executive Board Chairman still remain a member of the Kotoko Board, failed to show up at the meeting.

“Dr Sarpong was not present at the meeting,” he added.

He revealed the board is locked in talks to get Dr Sarpong to reverse his decision to leave Kotoko and insisted there is no official notification of Kwame Baah Nuako’s resignation as International Relations Officer.

“That is what we are all working toward (to get him to rescind his decision) and we have not receive any letter to that effect that he has resigned from the role.”

Reports from Kumasi also suggest official Ben Nti and Baah Nuako have been asked to stay off the club’s official activities until further notice while Jerry Asare, Paul Adu Gyamfi and Spokesperson Ernest Boateng remain the only official source of the club.
