Atiwa Dce confirmed

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwia, Mr Emmanuel Atta Twum, who was re-nominated by President John Dramani Mahama for a second term, has been confirmed for the position.

When the ballot was cast  at Kwabeng, the district capital on July 19, he polled 31 out of the 46 votes cast, representing 68 per cent which is more than the two-thirds required.

Soon after the Eastern Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr Paul Boateng declared him victorious, Mr Atta Twum who had more than 50 per cent of the votes but could not obtain the two-thirds needed at the first balloting, 10 days earlier pledged to continue with the assembly’s development programme.

That, according to him would make it possible for all the communities in the district, especially the rural ones to benefit from social amenities.

He expressed his gratitude to President John Dramani for re-nominating him and the assembly members for voting for his retention.

Earlier, the two members of Parliament for the area, Mr Kwasi Amoako Atta and Mrs Abena Osei-Asare (Atiwa West) and (Atiwa East) respectively canvassed for votes for Mr Atta Twum.
