Ghanaian striker Yakubu Mohammed is delighted to be joining compatriots Frank Sarfo Gyamfi and Awal Mohammed at Maritzburg United.
The ex AshantiGold player joined the Team of Choice on a four-year deal on Wednesday after completing a successful one-week trial.
Yakubu was initially billed to sign for Orlando Pirates but the Buccaneers claimed he lacked stamina.
United coach Ernst Middendrop, who previously coached Ghanaian giants Kotoko, was however impressed with his fitness level during the period of trial – leading to his permanent swoop.
The tireless striker who will be wearing the number 9 shirt at the club is now happy to be joining his ‘Ghanaian family’ at the club.
“Awal is here, Frank is here so I believe I am in good hands here,” he told Accra-based Hot FM.
“We will be like a family here and I am sure everything will be well.”
