Hundreds of Zambian football fans are expected to storm Ghana in September to support the Chipolopolo when they clash in the decisive World Cup qualifier after KENYA Airways made a special reduced rate of $1,400 return airfare for the fans to travel to the West African country.

Kenya Airways offered a special rate of $1,400 return airfare to the Zambia Soccer Fans Association (ZASOFA) for the September 6 Ghana versus Zambia 2014 World Cup qualifier in Kumasi.

This is to ensure that the Chipolopolo have massive support in the Kumasi Stadium when the two sides clash to boost them to victory.

The reduced airfare, which includes accommodation, transport and match tickets in Kumasi, is meant to encourage as many soccer fans as possible to travel to Kumasi to cheer the Chipolopolo.

ZASOFA strongman, Peter Makembo said fans boarding from Lusaka at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport would be required to pay $1,400  while those boarding from the Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe Airport in Ndola would be required to pay $1,450 .

Makembo said the above offers included two night’s accommodation at a three-star hotel, airport transfers to Kumasi, accommodation and meals as per itinerary provided, and transport to the stadium including a match ticket.

Kenya Airways country manager Stephen Ngamau said the above offers were valid for tickets purchased directly from the airline offices and that fares were subject to change.

Ngamau said the offer was limited to the first 50 fans that would buy the tickets.

Zambia plays Ghana in a must win final Group D World Cup qualifier match in Kumasi.

Ghana is leading Group D with 12 points while Zambia is one point behind Ghana.

The winner between Zambia and Ghana will play in the final knockout stage to qualify to the Brazil World Cup next year.
